Eagles Score Most Runs Since 2004 Season

GAME ONE
Overview:
Austin College pulled away from the Eagles after scoring four runs in the fourth frame to upend the home team 8-2 in its season-opener. Austin College led 3-2 after the first, but neither team would score until the fourth. In the first, Mack Lucio singled in a run and Lauren Gill later followed with another RBI single. But the Eagles couldn't produce any more runs. Austin College generated four runs on three hits in the fourth to take a 7-2 advantage. The Eagles extended the Austin College rally by committing two errors in the fourth. The Eagles were narrowly out hit 7-6 in the game.

The Eagles produced six hits in its season-opener, only one less than winner Austin College. 

GAME TWO
Overview:
The Eagles exploded for 17 runs behind five players who had multi-hit games to post a dominating 17-0 run-rule win over Austin College in game two. It was the most runs scored for the program since the 2004 season. That year, the Eagles blanked Westminster College 17-0. There was plenty of offense to go around for the Eagles as every starter in the lineup recorded a hit. The Eagles produced two runs in the first behind Kaylyn Soria's two-run double. The Eagle bats really got going in the second generating six runs on five hits. Codi Shannon, Rayli Ruby, Mack Lucio and Aryonnah Briggs each drove in runs. Leading 9-0 after three complete innings, the Eagles plated eight runs in the fourth behind seven hits. Reese Ramirez had an RBI single, Ruby recorded another RBI, Sierra Jasna singled up the middle to score two runs, Soria doubled to center field to score two runs and Blaise English had an RBI groundout. Lucio was the winning pitching in her collegiate debut. Lucio got an outstanding diving defensive play from second baseman Codi Shannon to end the game. Lucio fanned seven in her outing. Lucio also helped herself in the circle going 4-for-4 with two RBI. Jasna went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Soria went 2-for-3 with four RBI. Briggs went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Ramirez went 2-for-2 with three runs. In all, the Eagles totaled 17 hits in the game.

Notables:
It was the most runs the Eagles have scored since the 2004 season. Five players had multiple-hit games with Mack Lucio finishing 4-for-4 at the plate. Lucio also won in the circle in her collegiate debut.
