Crusaders Rally As 'Roos Series Closes

IRVING, Texas - Dallas and Austin College showed no shortage of hitting through this series, collecting three run-rule victories, two for the 'Roos to Dallas' one. Austin (2-20, 2-10 SCAC) took the series 2-1 over Dallas (5-16, 3-12 SCAC).

The Crusaders lost game one, 13-0, ultimately being shutout in five innings. Game two saw a brief, 2-3 score, but the 'Roos responded by scoring 8 runs from the fourth to the fifth inning to earn a 16-7 victory. Game three was a get back game for the Crusaders after trailing 0-1 through two, they would pop off 11 runs for a run-rule victory in the 5th inning.

Dallas scrambed to contain Austin College's offense, as starting pitcher Kristiana Guerra allowed six runs on ten hits over 4.1 innings before the bullpen surrendered seven more runs in relief. The fifth inning proved to be the decisive blow, as the 'roos tallied seven runs on six hits, putting the game out of reach.

G2 | Austin College 16, UDallas 7

Dallas' Ava Trevino  allowed seven runs on six hits in one inning before the bullpen surrendered nine more runs in relief. The 'Roos set the tone early, scoring seven in the first before adding on throughout the game.

UDallas battled to keep pace with the 'Roos. Austin College capitalized on defensive miscues and a steady offensive attack, ultimately sealing the win with a six-run fourth inning.

G3 | UDallas 11, Austin College 1

Roles were reversed and the 'Roos struggled to slow down the Crusaders offense, as starting pitcher Reagan Brinkley surrendered 10 runs on seven hits over 3.1 innings before the bullpen allowed one more in relief. The Crusaders took control early and never looked back, breaking the game open with a 10-run surge in the first four innings.

Kristiana Guerra was dominant in the circle for UDallas, allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out five in a complete-game effort. Dallas' bats stayed hot, with key contributions from Keely Mathis  and Ava Aleman, who each drove in two runs to secure the victory.
