SHERMAN, Tex.Laren Gradt's two assists in the first 16:02 of the match was all the help the Southwestern University women's soccer team needed for a 2-0 victory over Austin College.

Even though the final score was 2-0, the match felt like it was never close as the Pirates (7-4-4, 7-2-1 SCAC) outshot the Roos 36-2 including a 14-1 shots-on-goal and 9-1 corner kick advantage. Simply put, Southwestern dominated Austin College in all facets of the game.

It was off that corner kick advantage that Southwestern was able to score both goals beginning with Lilly Van Meter putting a header into the upper left corner after Gradt sent in a perfectly placed corner kick from the left corner at the 14:33 mark of the opening half.

Gradt once again took a corner kick a few minutes later with this one being from the right corner. Devin Cybulski collected the loose ball in front of the next after Gradt sent in another awesome kick and Cybulski buried the ball in the back of the next past Austin College's Kenedie Lane.

After that, the Pirates were not able to get another past Lane, who had a massive 12 saves on the evening to keep the score at a respectable 2-0.

Austin College (0-12-1, 0-10) remained winless on the season in both the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference as well as overall.

Southwestern maintained third place in the SCAC with 25 points and needs just two points in the final three matches of the regular season to wrap up a spot in the SCAC postseason tournament, but look for the next three opponents to bring their A-game as Dallas is trying to claw its way back into fourth place, which Schreiner currently has, and Trinity will look to maintain a perfect regular season record inside the SCAC.

The Pirates travel to the University of Dallas on Sunday to take on a Crusaders squad that all but has to win in order to keep their postseason hopes alive. A Dallas loss to Southwestern and either a Schreiner win or tie against St. Thomas on Sunday will mean the four teams advancing to the postseason will be determined with an additional weekend remaining in the regular season. Kickoff for the Pirates and Crusaders is slated for 1 p.m. CDT.
