'Roo Volleyball Cruises Past Schreiner

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Austin College volleyball team bounced back from its first two SCAC losses in emphatic fashion on Sunday, sweeping Schreiner 3-0 to improve to 12-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

The 'Roos came out strong, taking the first set 25-16 before holding off the Mountaineers for a 25-23 second set win. Austin College closed things out by taking the third set 25-20, hitting .378 as a team in the third set after having hit .400 as a team in the opening set win. Overall, the 'Roos finished the match hitting .270 collectively. Riley Abernethy had a big game for the 'Roos both offensively and defensively, leading the team with 10 kills and adding 10 digs. Victoria Smith chipped in 10 kills as well, boasting a .348 hitting percentage in the match.

Madison Manning led Austin College with 22 assists and added eight digs, while Brianne Tseng had 18 assists, including nothing her 1,000th career assist, and also had nine digs. Samantha Graham had eight kills and Olivia Linton and Mattie Duncan each had six, while Laynie Kovacs paced the 'Roos with 13 digs.
