'Roo Volleyball Drops Two SCAC Matches

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches against nationally ranked teams on Friday, falling 3-0 to No. 3-ranked Trinity and 3-2 against No. 17-ranked Southwestern. The 'Roos are now 11-3 overall on the year.

Against the Tigers, Austin College fell by scores of 20-25, 17-25, 19-25, as the 'Roos hit just .117 as a team while Trinity boasted a .271 team attacking percentage. Victoria Smith ahd nine kills to pace Austin College, while Olivia Linton added eight kills. Mari Prazak had 14 digs in the defeat to lead Austin College, while Brooklyn Talley had 14 assists, putting her over 2,000 for her career, and Brianne Tseng added 11. Tseng also added five digs in the defeat.

The 'Roos battled the Pirates for five sets in the second match of the day, taking the first set 25-20 before dropping set two 20-25. The 'Roos took set three 25-23, but the Pirates evened things up with a 16-25 fourth set win and topped the 'Roos 13-15 in the final set to clinch the match. Smith once again led Austin College, this time with 11 kills, and Riley Abernethy had 10 kills in the loss. Abernethy also had 28 digs, while Prazak led the 'Roos with 29. Chloe Miller chipped in 21 digs, and Tseng had 14 assists and 14 digs. Talley posted a double-double as well, with 25 assists and 11 digs. Linton chipped in nine kills in defeat.
