'Roo Volleyball Cruises to Pair of Victories

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College volleyball team cruised to a pair of victories in the team's first two home matches in more than a month, sweeping both Arlington Baptist and Jarvis Christian by scores of 3-0 on Tuesday night. The 'Roos are now 19-11 overall this season with the victories.

In the first match, the 'Roos eased past Arlington Baptist by scores of 25-9, 25-11, 25-19 and boasted a .348 team hitting percentage for the match. Rebekah Bowden was nearly perfect, with nine kills in 10 attempts to lead the way. Madison Lee and Reygan Holloman each had eight kills in the victory, and Katie Ingle had 27 assists. Rachel Fusselman added 21 digs, while Madi McVay added 10 in the win.

In the second match for Austin College, the 'Roos set the tone early with a 25-9 win in the first set before holding off Jarvis Christian 25-18 and 25-23 in sets two and three to earn their second sweep of the night. Bowden had another sensational performance with nine kills in 11 attempts, and Lee and Shelby Stipp each had five kills in a balanced effort. Fusselman had 16 digs, while Lauren Wulz tallied a team-high 13 assists. Wulz was one of three players to reach double digits for assists, with Ingle adding 11 and Chandler Sherman chipping in with 10.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
