'Roo Tennis Falls to Schreiner

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's tennis teams fell to visiting Schreiner University on Friday evening, with the women dropping a 7-2 contest while the men fell 8-1.

The women defaulted on lines two and three in doubles competition, with the pairing of Karsyn Clouse and Bailey Standokes dropping a hard-fought 8-5 decision on line one. The 'Roos also defaulted lines four, five, and six in singles competition but picked up a victory on line one, as Clouse earned a 6-3, 7-5 victory. Emma Davidson dropped her line two match 4-6, 2-6, and Standokes was downed by scores of 2-6, 0-6 on line three.

On the men's side, the 'Roos picked up a line two doubles win with the team of Luke Henley and Joel Colunga winning 8-4, but Trey Salyer and Evan Pezirtzoglou were defeated 8-3 on line one, and Zen Mata and Mario Diaz dropped an 8-1 line three decision.

Salyer fell 2-6, 3-6 on line one in singles action, while Henley battled but came up short in a 0-6, 7-6 (4), 5-10 loss on line two. Pezirtzoglou was downed 1-6, 6-7 (4) on line three, while Colunga was bested 7-6 (4), 2-6, 3-10 on line four. Mata and Diaz each dropped 0-6, 0-6 matches on lines five and six.
