'Roo Tennis Tops Dallas

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's tennis teams each earned their first victories of the season on Sunday, with the men topping the visiting University of Dallas 6-3 while the women won 4-3 over the Crusaders.

Karsyn Clouse, Emma Davidson, and Bailey Standokes each won their singles matches, while the 'Roos defaulted on lines four and five. Clouse picked up a 7-5, 6-4 win on line one, while Davidson won 6-2, 6-2 on line two. Standokes took the first set on line three 6-3 before cruising to a 6-0 win in the second set. Standokes and Clouse also paired up to win 8-2 on line one in doubles action, while the 'Roos defaulted on line two.

On the men's side, the 'Roos defaulted on line six in singles action but won four of five of the other lines, with Luke Henley coming away with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 line two win while Evan Pezirtzoglou won 6-4, 6-1 on line three. Joel Colunga picked up a 6-2, 6-1 line four victory, and Zeneth Mata earned a 6-3, 6-2 win on line five. Trey Salyer fell 2-6, 6-4, 3-6 in a hard-fought line one defeat.

In doubles play, the 'Roos defaulted on line three but Salyer and Pezirtzoglou won 8-6 on line one, while Henley and Colunga paired for a dominant 8-1 victory on line two.
