SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's tennis team took on Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Southwestern on Saturday morning, with the 'Roos falling 9-0 to the visiting Pirates. The 'Roos are now 3-5 overall on the year.
The duo of Gigi Francis and Phoebe Shapard battled but came up short at flight one doubles, dropping an 8-5 decision, and Megan Morris and Sierra Thomas, as well as Maya Leisey and Elena Aventa each fell by scores of 8-0 at lines two and three, respectively.
Francis fell 4-6, 3-6 on line one singles, and Shapard dropped a 2-6, 1-6 decision at line two. The 'Roos were blanked 0-6, 0-6 in lines three through six, with Leisey, Morris, Aventa, and Danielle Saltzmann each falling in those flights, respectively. Up next for the 'Roos is a trip to Colorado, where they'll take on Colorado Mesa and SCAC opponent Colorado College on April 10 and April 11.
