Women's Tennis Defeats Southwestern Christian 7-2

Women's Tennis Defeats Southwestern Christian 7-2

SHERMAN, TX – The Austin College Women's Tennis Team made it two wins in a row with todays victory over Southwestern Christian University.

Injuries plagued the Eagles coming into todays match as SCU was only able to field two players.  But this did not deter the Lady 'Roos from the opportunity to compete against a new opponent.

Doubles play did not start out well for the 'Roos, as Meghan White and Grace Ortiz were not able to maintain their electric start for the duration of the match, falling 8-5.  "I did not like what I saw," commented Head Coach Ryan Dodd.  "Our body language was complacent rather than intense, and we weren't seeing the ball on the strings well enough to compete on the doubles court today.  We'll work to improve that for our next match."

It was First-Year Katie Barber that stole the show for the 'Roos, as she played her toughest opponent yet of the season and stayed white hot on the season.  Katie has yet to lose a singles match this year for the 'Roos with today's victory, 6-4, 6-2.

AC goes back on the road to Richardson, TX to face a tough UT-Dallas squad at 12:00pm tomorrow, April 12th.
