'Roos Fall to Dallas to Close Out 2023 Campaign

IRVING, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team saw its 2023 season come to a close with a road match at the University of Dallas on Friday evening, falling 2-1 to the Crusaders to finish the year with a record of 5-8-3 overall.

It was an evenly contested match throughout, though the Crusaders managed to get on the board under six minutes into the game with a goal by Avery Seaman to make it 1-0, and that's how things would stand at the break. Dallas would tack on another goal early in the second half, as Claire Reed found the back of the net in the 53rd minute to make it 2-0. Austin College cut the deficit in half 20 minutes later, as Vyla Gammer tallied for the first time in her collegiate career to make it 2-1, but that's as close as things would get down the stretch.

The Crusaders owned a narrow 12-10 shot advantage in the game, though UD also had seven corner kicks compared to just one for the 'Roos. Amanda Zyla had three saves for Austin College and Ella Charles had five for Dallas.
