BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team went on top early and the 'Roos finished the job defensively, holding on for a 1-0 road win at Howard Payne University on Thursday evening. The 'Roos are now 2-3-1 overall on the year.

Austin College was out-shot 18-6 in the game, with HPU also holding an advantage with nine corner kicks compared to two for the 'Roos. However, the Austin College defense held strong with Kenedie Lane stopping all six shots she faced to earn the clean sheet. The 'Roos picked up their goal early in the match, drawing a penalty kick chance at the 7:15 mark of the opening half. Emma Boehmke buried the attempt to put the 'Roos ahead 1-0 and that's how things would stay for the rest of the match. Emma Williamson made a pair of saves in goal for Howard Payne.

Next up for Austin College is a home match against Randall University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
