Late PK Boosts Ozarks Past 'Roo Women's Soccer

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team dropped a late heartbreaker against the visiting University of the Ozarks on Saturday, as the Eagles were awarded a penalty kick with under 10 minutes to go and took advantage to top the 'Roos 1-0. The 'Roos are now 1-3-1 overall on the year.

The match was even throughout, with both teams finding scoring chances but failing to capitalize in a scoreless first half that saw each side attempt seven shots. The stalemate continued into the second half, with Ozarks out-shooting the 'Roos 8-5 after the break but the Austin College defense and goalkeeper Kenedie Lane were able to keep them at bay. However, with just 7:42 left in the match, Ozarks was able to get a penalty kick opportunity and Savannah Solloway put it in the back of the net to put the Eagles ahead 1-0 and Austin College was unable to counter in the game's closing moments.

Lane finished with five saves for the 'Roos, while Melanie Glossup had seven stops for Ozarks.
