Women's Soccer Blanks McMurry 4-0

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College women's soccer team scored twice in each half to get head coach David Sheridan his first victory with the 'Roos, topping McMurry 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 1-3 overall this season.

Kyli Scott got Austin College on the board midway through the first half, tallying her first goal of the season in the 20th minute of action. The lead grew to 2-0 at the 28:20 mark when Karolina Cruz took a pass from Kylie Peterson and blasted a shot into the upper right corner from 12 yards out. That goal sent Austin College into the break with a two goal lead.

The 'Roos struck again early in the second half, as Ashley Rice placed a penalty kick into the lower left corner to make it 3-0 in the 55th minute. The final goal of the match came in the 69th minute, when Erin Eckart found Myranda Baumgartner with a through ball, and Baumgartner managed to dribble past the keeper and tap the ball into the back of the net to make it a 4-0 final.

Austin College was dominant throughout, owning a 35-6 shot advantage. The 'Roos put 15 shots on net, while the War Hawks were unable to get any shots on frame in the match. Laura McGee got the clean sheet for Austin College.
