Three From Women's Hoops Named Academic All-District

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College women's basketball players Marianna Bert, Grace Moothart, and Brooklyn Matthews have been selected as Academic All-District picks for their outstanding performances both athletically and academically.

The 2024 Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Bert, a senior from Anna, was named Academic All-District on the strength of boasting a 3.98 grade-point-average with a double major in psychology and kinesiology. She appeared in 24 games this season for the 'Roos, and made 76 appearances with eight starts in her four-year career.

Moothart, a sophomore from Melissa, earned Academic All-District thanks to a grade-point-average of 4.00 with a double major in business administration and kinesiology. Moothart started all 26 games for the 'Roos this year and was among the conference leaders with a three-point percentage of 38.2%. 

Matthews, a sophomore from Conroe, was named Academic All-District with a 3.80 grade-point-average while majoring in business finance. This season, Matthews earned All-SCAC recognition following a season in which she averaged 6.9 points and 6.3 rebounds-per-game. 

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced April 16 (women) and April 17 (men).
 
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
