SHERMAN, Texas - Brooke Swift has been named the Brittany Simpson Endowed Women's Assistant Basketball Coach, athletics director David Norman has announced. Swift most recently served as a graduate assistant coach at NCAA Division II program Converse University in Spartanburg, S.C. Prior to that, she worked as an assistant coach at both Colorado College and Southwestern University.

"Brooke is a perfect addition at just the right time for our program," said assistant athletics director and head women's basketball coach Michelle Filander. "She is bringing crucial playing experience from a great Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference career as well as several years coaching in fantastic programs around the country. I am thrilled she will be joining us this summer."

Swift is a 2018 graduate of Southwestern, where she played for the Pirates and was a member of that program's 2015 SCAC Championship squad. She also played for the Pirates when they were the SCAC runners-up in 2018, a year in which she served as the team's captain and started at point guard.

"I'm excited to be back in the SCAC, and at such a successful program as Austin College," said Swift. "I'm looking forward to learning from Coach Filander and helping grow the program, and I'm ready to get started!"

Following her playing career, she stayed on as an assistant coach for Southwestern during the 2018-19 season, before taking that same position at another SCAC program, Colorado College. Swift worked with the Tigers from 2019-2021 before taking her position at Converse, where she earned her master's degree this spring. While at Colorado College, she helped lead the Tigers to their first ever SCAC championship game appearance, while also working with the 2021 SCAC Player of the Year in addition to developing multiple All-SCAC performers both in Colorado Springs and Georgetown.

Along with her duties as the women's assistant basketball coach, Swift will also be serving as an assistant for athletics communications.
