'Roos Fall at Texas Lutheran

SEGUIN, Texas - Texas Lutheran used big second and fourth quarters to pull away from the Austin College women's basketball team, handing the 'Roos a 71-42 defeat on Saturday afternoon in SCAC competition.

TLU led 15-13 after the opening quarter, but outscored Austin College 17-7 in the second frame to take a 32-20 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs pushed the margin a bit to 47-32 after three quarters, but it was in the fourth quarter that TLU really started to pull away, outscoring Austin College 24-10 in the frame. Much of that came from the free throw line, where the Bulldogs hit 12-of-14 attempts.

The 'Roos finished the game making just 28.8% from the field, and the Bulldogs outscored Austin College 20-6 from the free throw line in the game. Megan O'Neil made 3-of-10 triples to score a team-high nine points, and Grace Moothart hit 2-of-5 from deep to finish with eight points. Sarah Putnicki added seven points and six rebounds. Kailee Mulkey led a balanced scoring effort for Texas Lutheran with 11 points.
