Women's Hoops Drops Road Game at Texas Lutheran

SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College women's basketball team played stellar defense, holding Texas Lutheran to 25% shooting, but the Bulldogs used a big advantage on the backboards to hand the 'Roos a 50-45 loss on Friday evening. The 'Roos are now 8-15 overall on the year.

The game was tied 12-12 after the first quarter and 26-26 at halftime, but the 'Roos managed just nine points in the third quarter as Texas Lutheran went on top 39-35 and held on from there. The 'Roos limited TLU to 16-of-64 shooting, but Austin College did not fare much better, hitting 17-of-56 shots and just 6-of-25 from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs also outscored the 'Roos 13-8 at the free throw line, with Austin College attempting only six foul shots in the loss.

Texas Lutheran grabbed 18 offensive rebounds, and held a 51-37 edge on the glass overall in the game. Austin College also committed 16 turnovers, compared to 12 for TLU. Sarah Gwin made 3-of-8 three pointers on her way to 15 points to pace Austin College, while Natalie McCoy chipped in nine. Kacie West pulled down a team-best eight rebounds in the loss. Jenesis Navarro was the only Texas Lutheran player to reach double figures, scoring 12 points, while Tanyse Moehrig scored eight points and grabbed 13 rebounds coming off the bench.
