'Roos Fall at Texas Lutheran

SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College women's basketball team dropped 70-64 overtime decision on the road at Texas Lutheran on Friday evening, bringing the team's overall record to 5-3 on the year.

The 'Roos won three out of four quarters against TLU, out-scoring the Bulldogs 14-13 in the first, 14-12 in the third, and 18-15 in the fourth, but a 16-10 edge for TLU in the second prove to be the difference as Austin College needed a late rally to force overtime. The Bulldogs would put 14 points on the board in the extra frame to hand the 'Roos the defeat.

Austin College trailed 56-52 with nine seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, but after two free throws by Sarah Gwin cut it to a two point game, the 'Roos forced a turnover and Reagan Chiaverini got to the line with three seconds left and knocked down both attempts to force overtime. In overtime, Austin College took a 60-58 lead on a bucket by Gwin, but TLU went on a 10-0 run to go ahead 68-60 and never looked back.

Austin College struggled to get things going from the perimeter in the game, attempting 33 triples but knocking down just eight for a perecentage of 24.2%, and the 'Roos were also out-rebounded 44-38 in the game. Gwin made 7-of-13 shots to finish with a game-high 19 points, and Ally Longaker added 15 points and seven rebounds. Chiaverini chipped in 13 points, and Lindsay Carter came off the bench to score nine on 3-of-7 shooting from long distance.
