Austin College Women's Hoops Edges Hendrix

The Austin College women's basketball team raced out to a big halftime lead and held off a late charge by Hendrix to earn a 64-62 win in Conway, Ark. on Friday. The 'Roos are now 4-4 overall this season.

Christina Kime scored 15 first half points, knocking down 8-of-9 free throws before the break. Kime, who entered the game ranked fifth in the nation in free throw percentage, missed a free throw for the first time since the season opener against Mary Hardin-Baylor. The 'Roos forced the Warriors into 11 first half turnovers to help build a 41-29 halftime lead.

Late in the second half the Warriors trimmed the margin to one at 59-58 with 3:26 left, but Erin Riley buried a three and Kime added a basket to help seal the 64-62 victory. Kime finished with 17 points and handed out four assists, and Brianna Harvey added 11 points and five rebounds. Kendall Heitmeier added nine points, and Riley finished with seven points and a team-best 11 rebounds.

Austin College returns home on Sunday to take on North Park at 1:00 p.m. in the final game of 2014.
