SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College softball team swept its doubleheader against visiting Centenary College on Sunday afternoon at Sherman High School, taking game one 6-4 before wrapping up the weekend with a 5-3 game two victory. The 'Roos are now 13-10 overall and 2-4 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The 'Roos rebounded after dropping an extra innings game against the Ladies on Saturday, getting their first two SCAC wins of the season, and had to come from behind in the opening game of the day as Centenary plated a pair of runs in the top of the first. Elizabeth Preston came home on an error in the bottom half of the inning to cut it to 2-1, but the margin grew to 3-1 in the top of the third when Centenary's Kenzie Cox came home.

Chyrsi Hemby had an RBI triple for the 'Roos in the bottom of the third and Hannah King followed with a two-run homer to put Austin College on top 4-3, and after Centenary squared things up in the sixth, Tori Fowler's RBI double put Austin College back on top and Hemby ripped a double to plate Fowler and make it 6-4, and that's how things would end as Hailie Swiatkowski shut the door on the Ladies in the top of the seventh to earn the complete game victory in the circle. Hemby and Fowler each went 2-for-4, and Alissandra Tobar was 2-for-2. Bella Dominguez went 3-for-4 to lead Centenary at the dish.

Austin College jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two, as Fowler scored on a passed ball and Hemby came home on an RBI by Lyndsey Busch, and Alexus Johnson scored on a wild pitch in the second to make it a 3-0 game. That remained the score until the top of the fourth, when Centenary got on the board with an Emma Shepherd RBI double. The Ladies got another run in the sixth to trim the margin to 3-2, but Hemby and Carrie Johnson each knocked home a run in the bottom of the sixth to make it 5-2. Centenary got one run back in the top of the seventh, as Cox hit an RBI double, but that's as close as things would get.

Alexus Johnson got the victory for Austin College, going the distance in the circle for her sixth win of the year, and also went 2-for-2 at the plate. Preston and Fowler each had a pair of hits for Austin College, while Shepherd was 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead Centenary at the dish.
