Garcia Named Head Cross Country Coach

SHERMAN, Texas – Bryan Garcia has been named the new head men's and women's cross country and track coach at Austin College, athletics director David Norman has announced. Garcia most recently served as an assistant at Tarleton State University.

Garcia, a 2013 graduate of Tarleton State and member of that University's cross country and track and field teams, first served as a student assistant at TSU before becoming a graduate assistant coach in both cross country and track in 2013. He has also worked as a coach for middle and long distance runners for Winner's Edge Running Club from 2008-2011.

"We are excited to welcome Bryan to Austin College," said Norman. "He is a driven and dedicated individual who understands what it means to be a student-athlete, having been a high level competitor as well as a coach. Bryan has an outstanding work ethic and will continue to build on the strong foundation that's been established with Kangaroo cross country."

Garcia has a degree in kinesiology, and is finishing his Master's degree in that same field at Tarleton State. He is USA Track and Field certified and is currently completing his certification as a US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Endurance Specialist.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
