'Roo Men Cruise Past Penn State-Behrend

PALO ALTO, Calif. - The Austin College men's water polo team closed out the season with a dominant win on Sunday, topping Penn State-Behrend 20-7 to finish the year with a record of 8-9, including an 8-2 mark against Division III opponents.

Robert Griffin scored six goals to lead Austin College, and Andrew Pope tallied three more times for the 'Roos. Austin College built a 5-2 lead after the first quarter and blew things open in the second, outscoring PSB 7-1 in the frame to go into halftime leading 12-3. A quiet third quarter saw each team score just once, but the 'Roos closed strong, pouring in seven more goals in the fourth to make it a 20-7 final. 

Pope and Griffin each scored twice in the first quarter to help the 'Roos build their early lead, while Max Wade found the net twice and Griffin tallied again as the 'Roos pulled away in the second quarter. Griffin would score his final three goals in the fourth quarter to help ice the victory for the 'Roos.

Wade finished with two goals and Connor Watson also scored twice, while Dylan Laventure, Nico Masso, Nik Koelzer, Kyle Brown, Tobias Ward, Dylan McArthur, and Evan Cueva each found the back of the net once in the victory.
