SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's water polo team topped both Ottawa University (Ariz.) and Penn State-Behrend on Saturday, giving the 'Roos three straight victories as they improve to 3-17 overall this season.

The 'Roos opened the day with a 15-12 victory over Ottawa, jumping out to a 6-2 lead after the first quarter and holding off a late rally by the Spirit to secure the victory. The 'Roos took a 9-5 lead into halftime before Ottawa took control in the third quarter, outscoring Austin College 5-1 in the period to even things up heading into the fourth.

However, the 'Roos regained momentum in the final quarter, scoring five goals including the last two of the game to make it a three-goal margin. Max Wade scored four goals to lead Austin College, while Cade Griffith and Nathan Butler added three apiece and Andrew Pope tallied twice. Zachary Griffith made eight saves in the win.

Against Penn State-Behrend, the 'Roos got a pair of early goals from Wade to take a quick 2-0 lead before three straight strikes gave PSB a 3-2 lead. The 'Roos would battle back and head into the second quarter leading 4-3, and hold a slim 7-6 margin at halftime. A big third quarter opened things up, as Austin College outscored Penn State-Behrend 5-0 in the frame to make it 12-6 and the 'Roos would cruise from there.

Wade led all scorers with six goals, and Butler and Robert Griffin each scored twice for the 'Roos. Griffith had another strong game in net, making eight more saves in the victory.
