Southwestern Drops 'Roos 8-1

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 match against visiting Southwestern University on Saturday morning as the 'Roos hosted their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foe, bringing the 'Roos to 3-5 overall this season.

Brett O'Brien continued his outstanding season at line one singles, gutting out a 3-6, 7-5, 10-6 victory for Austin College's lone point of the day. O'Brien and Preston Spivey battled at line one doubles but came up short, falling 8-7 to the Pirates. Tate Nelson and Joseph Carrillo dropped an 8-1 decision at line two, and Matthew Cochran and William Dixon lost an 8-0 flight three match.

Spivey fell 1-6, 1-6 at line two singles, while Tate Nelson also dropped a 1-6, 1-6 decision at line four. Dixon lost 2-6, 1-6 at line six, while Carrillo and Cochran were both blanked 0-6, 0-6 at lines three and five, respectively. Austin College is off for two weeks, when they'll head to Colorado to take on Colorado Mesa on April 10 and Colorado College on April 11.
