Dodd Resigns as Austin College Tennis Coach

SHERMAN, Texas – Austin College head men's and women's tennis coach Ryan Dodd has resigned from that position to pursue other professional opportunities, athletics director David Norman has announced. Dodd coached the 'Roos for five seasons, winning Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Coach of the Year honors twice and Men's Coach of the Year recognition this past season.

"I want to thank Austin College and 'Roo Nation for their support over my five years in Sherman," said Dodd. "Nothing has meant more to me than being the tennis coach for our players and our college. I am confident that my time here has prepared me to succeed in future endeavors. I will always hold Austin College in a special place in my heart."

Dodd coached the 'Roos to new heights during his tenure in Sherman, with both the men's and women's teams earning Top 20 regional rankings over the past three seasons. Dodd also coached numerous players to All-SCAC recognition, while various players earned regional rankings for their individual play as well as in doubles competition. Both of his programs have consistently excelled in the classroom, and his women's team has boasted the highest team grade-point-average among all Austin College athletics programs for four consecutive years.

"The entire Austin College community is grateful for Ryan's hard work and dedication to his student-athletes over the course of his time in Sherman," said Norman. "Ryan has helped cultivate and grow a winning and positive culture in our men's and women's tennis programs, coaching with integrity and tremendous sportsmanship. We wish him all the best as he moves forward in his career."

Overall, Dodd coached the women's program to a record of 50-38 and the men's program to a record of 46-42 during his five seasons at the head of the program.

A national search will begin immediately for the next head men's and women's tennis coach at Austin College.
