'Roos Perform Well on Day Three of SCAC Meet

GARLAND, Texas - Sammi Thiele brought home gold in the 100 backstroke for the second year in a row, and the 'Roo men's swim team climbed in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship standings on day three of the conference meet on Friday. The men are now in fifth place overall, while the women remain in sixth.

Thiele turned in a time of 55.68 to win the 100 back, breaking the SCAC Meet record and posting the second fastest time in conference history overall, behind her own record set earlier this season. Both the men's and women's 200 freestyle relay teams placed fifth in that event, with the women coming in with a time of 1:43.63 while the men posted a time of 1:31.67. 

Alex Lai added a top eight finish for the men in the 100 breaststroke, delivering seventh place points with a time of 1:00.66, and JonAustin Blaine gave Austin College 10th place points in the 100 backstroke, finishing with a time of 55.62. The men's team wraps up day three of the event with 150 points overall, while the women head into the final day of competition with 176 points.
