Austin College Swimming Falls at Trinity

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Austin College swim teams got a first place finish from Sammi Thiele, but both the men and women would fall to defending Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champions Trinity University in a road meet on Saturday afternoon.

The 'Roo men earned a third place finish in the 200 medley relay to open up the meet, with the team of JonAustin Blaine, Tyler McDermott, Zane Eklund, and Kamil Murugan coming in with a time of 1:47.29. Eklund added a fourth place finish later in the meet with a time of 2:14.42 in the 200 butterfly, while on the women's side, Thiele was second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.36. 

Thiele's victory came in the 200 individual medley, touching with a time of 2:14.64, nearly four seconds faster than the second place competitor. The 'Roo women also got a third place finish from Reese Richmond in the 100 butterfly, with Richmond coming in with a time of 1:20.97, while Murrigan added a fourth place finish for the men in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.58.
