Records Fall for 'Roo Swimming at Hendrix Invitational

CONWAY, Ark. - The Austin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams put in strong performances at the two-day Hendrix Invitational this weekend, with the men finishing third and the women placing fourth out of eight competing teams.

Ethan Nguyen broke three program records at the meet, topping his own marks in the 100 and 200 breaststroke as well as the 100 individual medley, and David Mowles set a new school record in the 200 butterfly. The team of Max Saenz, Cade Griffith, Nguyen, and Mowles also broke the program record in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:13.12, good for third place at the meet.

Nguyen's new records for the 100 and 200 breaststroke were 57.45 and 2:08.69, respectively, while he finished with a time of 52.52 in the 100 IM to take second place in the event. Mowles edged the 200 butterfly record with a time of 1:57.08, which was also good for second place points.

Colton Baker won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, and Liberty Chanin highlighted the scoring on the women's side with a victory in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 19:17.07.
