SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team suffered their first defeat of the season on Sunday afternoon, as visiting Hendrix College scored once in each half and the 'Roos found themselves playing a man down for the majority of the second period. The 'Roos are now 3-1 overall on the year.

The game was scoreless until the 18th minute of action, when Hendrix's Omar Pelayo drilled a free kick from the top of the box just under the crossbar to make it a 1-0 game in favor of the Warriors. That remained the score until the 42nd minute, when Jacob Tekle carried the ball up the left sideline before launching a shot from the wing and finding the back of the net from 20 yards out to square things up heading into halftime.

Austin College earned a penalty kick early in the second half, but Hendrix keeper James Leone came up with the stop to keep things square and the Warriors would take the lead in the 64th minute on a goal by Austin Pettigrew. Austin College had several chances to even the score coming down the stretch, but were not able to capitalize and the final whistle would blow with Hendrix on top 2-1. Everardo Garza made four saves for the 'Roos, while Leone had five stops for Hendrix.
