Big Second Half Pushes UST Past 'Roos

HOUSTON, Texas - After falling behind 1-0 in the opening half, the Austin College men's soccer team squared things up early on coming out of halftime but St. Thomas responded with three goals to break the tie and hand the 'Roos a 4-1 defeat on Friday evening. The 'Roos are now 2-9-1 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

St. Thomas got a goal from Jaynce Nunn just 2:22 into the game to grab an early lead, but that would be the lone tally of the opening 45 minutes of action. Austin College wasted little time after the break to equalize, as Pierce Wear scored in the 50th minute of action to make it a 1-1 game. However, St. Thomas got a goal from Miguel Artazos just 27 seconds later, and the Celts added two more goals, both in the 66th minute of action, to make it a 4-1 final.

The Celts held a 26-3 shot advantage in the match, with Connor Tullis making 13 saves in goal for Austin College. The 'Roos are back in action on Sunday when they head to Shreveport to take on Centenary College.
