Khalaf Named Finalist for 2019 SCAC Man of the Year Award

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Austin College men's soccer player Joseph Khalaf has been named one of four finalists for the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Man of the Year Award, the league office has announced.

Khalaf, a four-year starter in goal from Sherman, excelled both on the field and in the classroom during his time with the 'Roos. The homegrown keeper was a three-time first team All-SCAC performer, finishing among the conference leaders in saves each year of his career. Khalaf was also named to the SCAC Academic Honor Roll each of his four years, graduating with a 3.83 grade-point-average with a dual major in math and economics. This year, he was named the 2018-19 Austin College Senior Man of the Year and was voted as the 2018-19 male Robert T. Mason Sportsmanship Award winner for the 'Roo athletics department.

Khalaf was a three-year captain for the 'Roos, and this past season earned the SCAC's inaugural Elite 19 Award for men's soccer, handed out to one student-athlete in each of the sports that the conference sponsors who achieves excellence both athletically and academically. He also served both the Sherman and Austin College communities in a variety of ways, both as a peer tutor and Institutional Advancement Student Ambassador and as a volunteer with Master Key Ministries and First Baptist Church Youth Basketball League.
