Men's Hoops Edged by Texas Lutheran

SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College men's basketball team mounted a big second half comeback to take a late lead, but Texas Lutheran managed to edge the 'Roos 77-75 on Friday evening in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action.

The 'Roos trailed 45-31 at halftime, but got 10 second half points apiece from Joshua Joe and Nate Williams as Austin College stormed back to take a 74-72 lead with three minutes left. After the Bulldogs tied things up, a free throw from Jordan Hudgins put Austin College ahead 75-74 with 1:51 to play but TLU scored the final three points of the game to hand the 'Roos the defeat. 

Austin College scored the first eight points out of haltime to quickly trim it to a 45-39 game, but TLU responded with a 16-8 run to push the margin to 61-47 with just under 12 minutes to play. The 'Roos continued to chip away at the deficit, and Williams scored with 3:01 to play to give Austin College a 74-72 lead before the Bulldogs closed strong. Joe finished with 20 points to lead all scorers and Williams had all 10 of his points after halftime, while Kidus Getenet had 18 points and seven rebounds. Xavier Phillips led Texas Lutheran with 12 points.
