SUWANEE, Ga. - Austin College men's basketball player Kidus Getenet has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his outstanding play over the Thanksgiving break, the league office has announced.

Getenet, a sophomore guard from Allen, led the 'Roos to a 4-0 week with two wins over Hendrix and a pair of buzzer-beater victories against Howard Payne and the University of the Ozarks. Getenet averaged 19.8 points and 5.5 rebounds for the week, notching 20 or more points in three of the team's four games while shooting better than 57% from the field, as well as 44% from three on 11-of-25 shooting, and 82% from the free throw line. He also buried the game-winning three at the buzzer in the team's win over Howard Payne, and poured in a career-best 25 points in the team's road win at Hendrix.
