'Roos Earn Road Victory at TLU

SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College men's basketball team held off Texas Lutheran for a 70-68 road victory on Saturday in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The 'Roos are now 7-11 overall and 2-7 in conference action.

Tristan Dick and Kidus Getenet each scored 14 points to pace Austin College offensively, as the 'Roos fell behind 34-32 at halftime but surged past the Bulldogs to edge out the two-point victory. Getenet scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half to lead the way, hitting 5-of-8 of his shots and 2-of-3 from deep in the frame. Jordan Hudgins scored nine second half points, making both of his second half shot attempts and all five free throws. Hudgins finished the game with nine points and three rebounds.

The 'Roos also got 11 points from Jason Jones Jr., and Dick made 7-of-9 shots to get his 14 points. He also had four rebounds, while Joshua Joe and Ethan Pearce led the 'Roos with six rebounds each. Austin College shot a blistering 56.6% from the field in the game, helping them overcome 17 turnovers and a 24-8 scoring edge at the free throw line in favor of Texas Lutheran. LaDarius King led all scorers with 24 points for the Bulldogs.
