'Roos Earn Big Overtime Comeback Victory

SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College men's basketball team twice trailed by as many as 19 points in the first half at Texas Lutheran, but the 'Roos rallied back to take the Bulldogs into overtime and earn a 78-71 victory on the road to improve to 4-4 on the year.

Tristan Dick led all scorers with 23 points, hitting 8-of-11 shots from the field, and Michael Holland added 18 points and six boards. Jaylyn Cleamons scored 16 and pulled down eight rebounds, while Jason Jones Jr. came off the bench to chip in 10 points.

The Bulldogs raced out to a 29-10 lead midway through the first half and after the 'Roos tried to chip away extended it back to 19 at 39-20, but the 'Roos managed to close the gap to 43-28 at the break. Austin College opened the second half with a 10-0 run to trim the margin to 43-38 with 16:55 on the clock, but the Bulldogs quickly pushed it back to a double-digit margin. After TLU took a 55-43 lead with 12:40 left to play, Austin College scored 18 unanswered to grab the lead at 61-55 with five minutes left, and after Texas Lutheran rallied to take a three point lead with just seconds remaining, Dick drilled a three just before time expired to send the game to overtime all square at 66 apiece.

Austin College took control early in the overtime period and never looked back, taking their second half momentum and earning the 78-71 victory.
