'Roo Men's Hoops Heading Back to SCAC Tournament

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's basketball team is headed back to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament for the first time since 2015-16 after earning the No. 2-seed and a first round bye with an overall record of 14-11 and a conference mark of 11-7. This year's tournament will be played in Kerrville, hosted by Schreiner University.

The 11 conference victories are the most for the 'Roos since 2011-12, and tie for the second most SCAC wins in program history. After opening the year 3-0, the 'Roos dropped seven straight before turning it on in the New Year, winning 11 of their next 13 games before falling to Centenary and St. Thomas - the top two teams in the conference standings - to end the regular season.

The tournament gets underway with a pair of quarterfinal games on Friday, as No. 4 Schreiner takes on No. 5 Trinity. The winner of that game will face No. 1-seed Centenary in the first semifinal matchup on Saturday, with the 'Roos taking the court at 2:00 p.m. that day to take on the winner of No. 3 Texas Lutheran and No. 6 Southwestern. Austin College swept its season series with TLU, which entered the year as the defending conference tournament champion, while the 'Roos went 1-1 against the Pirates. Should the 'Roos advance to Sunday, the conference championship game is scheduled to tip off at noon.

Live stats and free streaming video will be available for all games this weekend, and can be found on the official SCAC Tournament website.
