Four From 'Roo Football Earn ASC Honors

RICHARDSON, Texas - Four members of the Austin College football team earned American Southwest Conference postseason honors for the 2022 campaign, the league office has announced. Tyler James, John Aldridge, and Max Walstad each earned All-ASC recognition and Jacob Hoffman was honored as part of the Outstanding Sportsman Team of the Year.

James, a fifth year punter from Wills Point, was named first team All-ASC after leading the conference and finishing fourth in the nation in punting. James averaged 43.4 yards-per-punt, including a long of 72 yards this season. He had 13 punts of over 50 yards, and had 13 punts pin opposing teams inside their own 20-yard line. Both of those numbers led the ASC this season.

Aldridge, a senior kicker from Richardson, was named third team All-ASC after making three field goals this year with a long of 49 yards. He also made 14-of-15 point after attempts on the year. This marks the second time both James and Aldridge have earned All-ASC recognition.

Walstad, a junior defensive tackle from Highland Village, was also named third team All-ASC, his first time being honored with ASC postseason honors. Walstad finished the 2022 campaign with 29 tackles, including 7.0 tackles-for-loss and 0.5 sacks. Of those 29 tackles, 16 were solo stops, and he had numerous quarterback pressures throughout the year.

Hoffman, a senior offensive lineman from Flower Mound, was Austin College's representative on the ASC Outstanding Sportsman Team for the 2022 season. That team recognizes players from across the ASC who display great sportsmanship throughout the course of the year.
