'Roo Football Falls to Centre in Season Finale

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Austin College football team got big games from Devon and Aaron Rideaux but it would not be enough as the 'Roos fell 44-20 to Centre College on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos finish the year with a record of 1-3.

Devon Rideaux rushed 21 times for 105 yards and a score and added 31 passing yards, including a touchdown throw to his brother Aaron Rideaux, and Aaron hauled in 10 receptions for the second straight game to finish the year as the Southern Athletic Association leader in both catches and yards. He finished Sunday's contest with 120 receiving yards and a score. Tyler James connected on 17-of-34 passes for 184 yards in the loss.

Austin College struck first when Kabyl Utley took a punt return 75 yards to the house, but Centre scored 30 unanswered points to take a 30-7 lead into halftime. Austin College capped an 18 play, 90-yard drive that milked more than nine and a half minutes off the clock to open the third quarter with a 1-yard touchdown plunge from Devon Rideaux to make it 30-14, but Centre scored two more touchdowns to go on top 44-14 late in the game. Austin College got on the board one more time when Devon Rideaux found Aaron Rideaux from 22 yards out to make it a 44-20 final after the 2-point conversion attempt failed.

Jarius Williams made seven tackles with two pass breakups, and Jarrett Pleasant had five tackles, including one for loss, and came away with an interception to lead Austin College defensively.
