HOUSTON, Texas - The Austin College baseball team got a big pitching performance from Trystan Mallory and Brant Stuber earned his fifth save of the season as the 'Roos held off the University of St. Thomas 2-1 to open up the team's final regular season series of the year.

Mallory went 8.0 innings to pick up the victory on the mound, scattering six hits and allowing just a solo home run while striking out eight batters, and Stuber came on in the bottom of the ninth to shut the door on the Celts, picking up a strikeout while tossing a perfect inning. The 'Roos got their first run of the game when Ryan Padfield drew a walk with the bases loaded, and Brandon Hill would come home on a ground ball from RayShawn Riley to provide what would prove to be the game-winner, with both of those runs coming home in the top of the third.

St. Thomas got on the board in the bottom of the seventh with a home run by Dylan Lamb, but the Austin College pitching shut the Celts down the rest of the way to hold off any potential comeback bid. Jake Trapani had a double for the 'Roos, and Tino Ramirez, Mason Woodhouse, and Hill each had a hit for Austin College. The 'Roos and St. Thomas will wrap up the series on Saturday, with a doubleheader scheduled to begin at noon.
