SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College baseball team saw its three-game win streak halted on Monday, falling 16-7 to visiting Nichols College at Baker Field. The 'Roos are now 6-7 overall on the year.

The 'Roos took an early lead on an RBI double by RayShawn Riley in the bottom of the first, but the Bison's Will Kleinhenz belted a homer and another run came home on a bases loaded walk in the second to put Nichols on top. Two more runs came around to score on bases loaded walks in the top of the third to make it 4-1, as Nichols ended up drawing 15 walks as a team in the game. The 'Roos took the lead back in the bottom of the fourth, when Ashton Milton was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to cut it to 4-2 and Ryan Padfield followed with a bases-clearing double to put Austin College ahead 5-4.

However, Nichols responded with four runs in the fifth and added four more in the seventh to make it 12-5, and after Tino Ramirez came home on a balk to cut it to 12-6, Nichols tacked on three more runs in the top of the eighth to push the margin to 16-6. Riley singled in another run in the bottom of the ninth for the last tally of the game by the 'Roos, making it a 16-7 final.

Colton Millsap took the loss in relief, surrendering five runs on six hits in 3.1 innings of work, while Riley went 3-for-5 with two RBI to lead the 'Roos at the plate. Kleinheinz went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI to lead Nichols.
