LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Austin College baseball player Chase Almaguer has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office has announced.

Almaguer, a senior left-hander from The Woodlands, improved to 3-0 on the year and lowered his earned-run-average to a microscopic 0.64 after throwing a no-hitter in a 12-1 win over Blackburn College. Almaguer went the distance in the seven-inning victory, surrendering one unearned run while striking out three batters and yielding just two walks.

For the year, Almaguer is second in the SCAC in ERA and has allowed just eight hits in 14.0 innings of work in three appearances. Just two runs have come home against Almaguer all year, with only one of those runs being earned. 

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
