This Week in AC Athletics, 4/3 - 4/9

Happy first-week-in-April, #RooNationSpring Sports are in the home stretch with eyes on Conference Championships.  Final Exams and Graduation will be here before you know it, and soon we will be saying goodbye to another amazing year at Austin College.  So take advantage of every opportunity to come out and support your Kangaroo Student Athletes during study breaks.

Baseball is playing only seven more games this regular season, with one at home tomorrow.  Softball hosts Trinity this weekend, and Tennis travels to Georgetown and Kerrville to take on the Pirates and Mountaineers.

Lace up your tennis shoes, step into the batter’s box, and runners take your mark, this is your AC Athletics Update!

Baseball

The Kangaroos took 1 of 3 from the Bulldogs of TLU on the road, and were swept by a tough Southwestern team last weekend.

With this Monday’s game at Ecclesia cancelled, there are only four more home games remaining to catch your Kangaroos in action this regular season.  Lucky for you, the first of those four begins at 6:00pm tomorrow against Dallas Christian.

  • Wednesday, April 5th, 2017
    • Home vs. Dallas Christian at 6:00PM

Men’s and Women’s Tennis

The Austin College Men swept their last weekend of home competition with two wins over Top-20 Regionally Ranked Opponents!  The victories were enough to earn Austin College its first ITA Regional Ranking in PROGRAM HISTORY at #19 in the West.

The ‘Roos record now stands at an impressive 9-3 (1-0) with two tough road matchups this weekend against SCAC rivals Southwestern and SchreinerAC will hope to move to 11-3 (3-0) on the year after the trip.

Women’s Tennis fought hard against regionally ranked UW-Eau Claire and McMurry, but the BluGolds were too much for the ‘Roos, falling 8-1 and 5-4 respectively.

AC collected a 7-2 victory over LeTourneau to move to 7-6 (1-0) on the season, and their résumé was impressive enough to earn their first Regional Ranking since March 17th, 2011, sitting at #17 in the West!

With two tough contests coming their way this weekend at Southwestern and Schreiner, AC will hope to return with two victories to continue climbing the rankings for the remainder of the season.

Distance Track

Austin College Distance Track continues to put up impressive results this year, as Alex Quinn finished first among all collegiate runners in the 1500m event of the Hardin-Simmons Invitational last weekend.

The Kangaroos will look to kick hard in their last 100-meters next weekend in Commerce, TX as they prepare for the SCAC Championships at the end of the month.

Baseball is home on Wednesday, and Softball is home on Saturday and Sunday, with Senior Day festivities happening on Sunday, April 9th at 12 & 2.

Come on out to the ball games this weekend while you follow @ACRoosMWTennis for live tweets of the Tennis Matches in Georgetown and Kerrville.
