Hemby Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo softball player and cheerleader Chyrsi Hemby.

Hemby, a junior from Bonham, has gotten her 2024 softball campaign off to a big start while helping the 'Roos to a 10-8 record, marking the first time the program has hit double-digits in victories since the 2016 season. Hemby ranks among the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference leaders in several categories, including being sixth in batting average at .423, and she also currently leads the nation in doubles with 12. She also ranks second in the SCAC with 19 runs batted in, and boasts a .474 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of .654, which ranks fourth in the league.

Modern Woodmen of America is proud to recognize and support the ongoing achievements of Austin College student-athletes. Their North Texas Region understands that the pursuit of excellence on and off the field creates a foundation for continued excellence after graduation.
