SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo men's tennis player Tate Nelson.

Nelson, a senior from The Colony, helped the 'Roos earn their first victory of the 2023 campaign with victories in both singles and doubles competition on Saturday at the Jordan Family Courts at the Russell Tennis Complex. The 'Roos downed the University of Dallas by a score of 7-2 in the match, with Nelson earning wins playing on line one in doubles and line two in singles. In doubles competition, Nelson teamed with Trey Salyer for an 8-2 victory, and the senior battled to a flight two singles victory by scores of 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.
