Jamerson Named Head Athletic Trainer

SHERMAN, Texas – Austin College has named Hayley Jamerson its new head athletic trainer, athletics director David Norman has announced.

Jamerson has served as the assistant athletic trainer for the 'Roos since 2018, and will move into the head position as Austin College enters the 2020-21 academic year. Ryan Roenigk, who previously served in that role, has stepped down from the position after being accepted into physical therapy school.

"We're excited for Ryan on his new opportunity, and appreciate everything he's done for our student-athletes in his time at Austin College," said Norman. "We're also thrilled to be able to have someone of Hayley's caliber take on the role of head athletic trainer. Her passion and dedication to our student-athletes have been an enormous asset to our department since she arrived in Sherman."

Jamerson received her undergraduate degree in athletic training from Eastern Illinois University in 2016, where she also worked with the athletic training staff. While at Eastern Illinois, she worked with the soccer, football, volleyball, and swim teams. Jamerson has also worked as a volunteer medical assistant and first responder at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in 2015, in addition to working with Special Olympics and various Illinois high school athletics events.

A national search for a new assistant athletic trainer will begin soon for the Austin College athletics department.
