Four From 'Roo Water Polo Earn All-CWPA

SHERMAN, Texas - Four members of the Austin College women's water polo team were recognized for their outstanding play during the 2024 season by being named All-CWPA performers, the league has announced.

Alyssa Ross, Cory McGrath, Ashley Chand, and Kylee Noble were each honored as All-Conference performers, with Ross being tabbed as a first team pick, while McGrath and Chand were named second team and Noble was an honorable mention selection. The 'Roos finished the regular season 6-10 overall, but were 6-2 against Division III competition and will be heading to the CWPA Tournament this weekend, taking on Penn State Behrend in the opening round on Friday.

Ross, a senior from San Jose, Calif., earned her first team accolades after finishing the regular season with 26 goals scored. Of those 26 goals, 19 came against CWPA competition, including a career-best eight tallies in a victory over Washington & Jefferson. Ross scored at least one goal in all eight conference games for the 'Roos this season.

McGrath, a senior from Flower Mound, led the 'Roos with 32 goals this season, and scored in seven of the team's eight conference games this year. McGrath had a huge CWPA campaign, scoring 30 of her 32 goals against conference foes, including exploding for nine scores in a win over Grove City. 

Chand, a junior from Southlake, joined McGrath on the second team after finishing the regular season with 20 goals, including 10 against conference opponents. Chand saved her top scoring game of the year for last, finding the net three times in a thrilling victory over Connecticut College in the team's last game before the tournament.

Noble, a senior from Argyle, rounded out the All-Conference recipients as an honorable mention pick after finishing the regular season with 10 tallies, six of which came against conference foes. Noble scored two goals twice this season, including in a game against Cal State Monterey Bay, and then again against CWPA opponent Macalester.
