Five From Women's Water Polo Earn CSC Academic All-District

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College women's water polo players Kate Askew, Katherine Cox, Erin McCormack, Cory McGrath, and Sammi Thiele have been selected as Academic All-District picks for their outstanding performances both in the pool and in the classroom during the 2023 season.

Askew, a senior from Highland Village, earned her All-District spot thanks to a 3.862 grade-point-average with a double major in mathematics and computer science. Cox, a senior from Flower Mound, was selected after posting a 3.912 GPA with a major in public health. McCormack, a junior from Orlando, Fla., was named Academic All-District after completing the season with a 3.621 grade-point-average with a major in neuroscience. McGrath, a junior from Flower Mound, is a business administration with a GPA of 3.705, and Thiele, a junior from Keller, was named Academic All-District for the second time this year after also earning a spot in swimming, holding a 3.91 GPA with a major in English.

The 2023 Academic All-District Men's and Women's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 21 (men) and June 22 (women). The CSC Academic All-District teams include the student-athletes listed at the links above.
