ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Austin College women's water polo fell short against host-school Augustana at the 2023 USA Water Polo Division III Championships on Sunday, dropping a 10-3 decision in the event's third place game.

Austin College out-shot Augustana 30-26 in the game but were unable to convert those extra chances into goals. The 'Roos jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the opening quarter, but Augustana put the clamps on defensively from that point on. Austin College went into halftime trailing 4-2 after Augustana scored four unanswered in the second period, with the 'Roos getting back on the board with a goal in the third to make it 6-3 heading into the fourth. Augustana finished the game with a 4-0 quarter to make it 10-3 at the final horn. 

Alyssa Ross, Maddie Jacks, and Cory McGrath each scored a goal for the 'Roos, while Erin McCormack had six saves and a pair of steals for Austin College. Ross's efforts for the weekend earned her a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
