Austin College Volleyball Sweeps UTD

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team picked up a big win on Tuesday evening, sweeping the University of Texas-Dallas 3-0 for the program's first victory against the Comets since 2008. Austin College is now 14-6 overall on the year.

The 'Roos came out strong, taking the first set 25-18 thanks in large part to a .333 team hitting percentage, before holding off the Comets for a 26-24 set two win. Austin College found themselves trailing 17-13 in the third set, but rallied back for a 25-21 win to complete the sweep. Olivia Linton and Riley Abernethy each had nine kills to pace the 'Roos offensively, with Linton hitting .389 in the match while Abernethy hit .250 and added eight digs in the victory. Linton also chipped in a pair of block assists, while Taylor Nemeth had a big game at the net with six total blocks, including three block solos. Victoria Smith had six kills, and Laynie Kovacs led Austin College with 22 digs.

Brianne Tseng had 18 assists to lead all performers in that category, and Madison Manning added 12 assists and 13 digs. Manning and Kovacs also had two service aces apiece for Austin College, as the 'Roos will get back into SCAC play this weekend in Shreveport.
